Visual Arts - Grade 7
|
Our visual arts program blends itself into all curriculum areas. Students are encouraged to express their creativity by extending all their unit activities with drawings, paintings, three dimensional works and/or photography. However, we will take advantage of natural settings, and focus on visual arts through experimentation with watercolour, charcoal, and pencil media. The artists will learn to choose appropriate tools, materials and techniques correctly, selecting those that create their desired effect. They will be able to explain how concepts of design are used in a work of art to communicate feelings and convey ideas. Visual arts will also be explored through its history. We will engage in a short study of famous painters: European, Native American (North, Central, South America), and Canadian (The Group of Seven). We will study their genre, and discuss their techniques given influences such as environment, political/social conditions, etc. Visual arts will also be an important component of our monthly newspaper. Look for our alternating cartoonists and illustrators! Field Trips
