Physical education should incorporate a wide range of
subjectsÂ…anything from art to science, skill to endurance. This year
the Voice physical education class will be reaching across a broad range
of physical activity from different parts of the world, focusing on
style, technique and movement and health.
Aim: to develop skills
in outdoor and indoor activities, which will help open doors to new
and old experiences, hopefully fostering enjoyment of physical activities.
Method of Instruction:
coaching and mini-lectures (5-10min.), possible workshops/ presentations
and hands on active involvement from students. There will be opportunity
for each child to assist in the teaching and explanation of a class
or activity.
Physical Activities:
- Indoor soccer
- Flag football (incorporate football rules)
- Basketball (3 on 3, teams and playoffs)
- Relay races (balloon toss, 3 legged, tug-a-rope, etc.)
- Baseball
- Ice Skating
- Boxercising (cardio)
- Kings Court (dodgeball)
- Volleyball
- Cardio Funk
- Floor routines
- Ultimate Frisbee
- Ball 'n' Bat (Jamaican game)
- Other physical activities from other cultures beside those found
in Canada.

- What is physical activity, why is it important?
- How does the human body play?
- What keeps it healthy?
- Why is that important? Body Image Issues and the problems with
beauty magazines.
- Why is regular exercise important?
- What are some advantages to good health and how can you achieve
good health status?
- What are some good/bad habits?
- What are some problems with tobacco, alcohol and drugs?
- What is our body made up of?
- How do muscles and bones work?
- Why should we keep muscles and bones in mind when exercising or
playing?
- How are our mind and body related?
- King Lear's, if the head is corrupt then so is the body or kingdom.
Meaning?
- What are disadvantages and advantages to weight training for men
and women?
- What are advantages and disadvantages to playing hard and laughing
loud?
- What are the best exercises for every one of all ages?
- Creative expression though movement and play.
- Knowledge of self-healing, mentally and physically through relaxation.
- Descriptions of leadership and followship roles. Teamwork stressed.
- Rules, regulations and technique for mainstream sports put into
practice.
- Looking for hazards in our physical activity environment and learning
to predict in order to avoid getting hurt
- Chance to evaluate self-improvement throughout the year after setting
objectives with the teacher.

Main objectives :
- For students to develop an understanding of their body and be aware
of the way it works.
- To have fun, learn to live healthy and learn to enjoy physical
activity.
- Develop an understanding of good/bad foods and possible eating disorders.
- Learn methods of relaxation.
- To be aware of health risks and how to prevent them. For children
to learn about the benefits and rewards of physical activity.
