Library

Through the efforts and support of parents, we have been able to build a relatively extensive collection of books ranging from literature to research materials. Our library provides students with opportunities to borrow books, select research materials, and read silently before, during and after school.

The Scarborough Library has kindly opened their doors to us, and will provide our students with workshops and challenging learning experiences. In addition, they have set aside a separate room where our students can engage in research, use the Internet, borrow books, or simply read quietly. The library is equipped with Internet facilities and six desktop computers that our kids can use on a regular basis.

School Computers

The use of computers is highly encouraged at Voice Intermediate. Research, story writing, essay writing, graphic work, etc. can be done at school. Currently, the school owns several Pentium laptop computers dedicated solely to student use. High Speed Internet can be accessed through each computer. The laptops will be signed out as needed during the school day; however, students are not permitted to take computers home. To ensure that work started at school is continued and/or completed at home, each student must save their work to disk. We encourage any child who already has a laptop, to bring it to school for his/her personal use. However, the school cannot take responsibly for the loss or damage of personal computers. Laptops brought to school should go home at the end of each day (or remain in the student's locker overnight).

*It is the responsibility of each student to ensure that our computer equipment is not damaged in any way. Laptops must be shut off correctly following their use. If a computer is dropped, broken, and/or damaged due to negligence, the student responsible for the damage will in turn be responsible for the cost of repair, or for the replacement of the damaged computer
