The grade Seven Global Studies curriculum, uncovers connections within the global community. Exploration will be within the cooperative framework, and independently through social studies and geographic inquiry. All curricular areas will be integrated into the geography program.

Locations and Places

• Demonstrate an understanding of locations and places and how these play a role in every day life, in historical events and in natural disasters.

Reflecting on Regions

• Students discover how geographers organize the world into regions.
• Population distribution, population characteristics, settlement patterns and urbanization will be introduced.
• Students identify types of land use
• Mapping and globe skills.

The Idea of Interaction

• How are different cultures affected by human interaction.
• Discover the connections and relationships that make events complex and problems challenging.

Movement

• Students discover how people, things and information travel, and how people improve systems of movement.

Depending on the Environment

• The study of climate, plant life, animal life and landforms, and how these help make one environment different form another.

Methods of Study

• A major independent project or essay will be required
• Debates, discussions and experimental activities will be an integral part of the geography curriculum
• Tests and examination will be required
