Ottawa- Last Minute Update

A new itinerary, details of clothing requirements, and other information regarding the trip went home with each student on Thursday, Oct 17. Please take the time to read the revised package carefully. Note that departure time has changed to 7:00 a.m. Michael Vaughan communicated with MP. Maria Minna, and was able to arrange a visit to 'Question and Answer Period' in the House of Commons at 2:00 p.m.. To take advantage of this wonderful opportunity, the tour company has agreed to an early departure.

We are scheduled to return from Ottawa at 9:00 p.m on Wednesday night. Please make arrangements to pick up your child at this time. I will have my cell phone with me on the bus and during our time in Ottawa. In case of an emergency, or to check exact time of arrival in Toronto, call 416 571 0493.

Given that students will be tired on Thursday morning, we are extending our entry time to 10:00 a.m. However, the school will still be open at 8:30 a.m. for students wishing to arrive at the regular time.

Fall Fair and Halloween Dance

Our Fall Fair, scheduled to take place on Wednesday, October 30 from 1:30 to 3:00 promises to be great fun for everyone. Students have planned pumpkin carving and scarecrow making activities, a talent show, cabbage head decorating, a bake sale, and a pie making contest. The fall fair comes as a result of our 'Community' theme, in full force during the month of October. We invite parents to join our Fall Fair. We need judges, photographers, participants and spectators. Our students would love to share this event with you! We thank Ms. Webb for making this event happen!

Our Halloween Dance takes place at the school on Wednesday, October 30 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Each student can invite one friend to the dance. Two teachers will chaperone, but we still require one or two parents to be there as well. E-mail the school should you want to volunteer; but remember, you must wear a costume!

Hep B Vaccine

The fist Hep B dose (for grade 7 students) will be administered on Wednesday, November 27 in the morning. Students receiving the vaccine will come to the school instead of going to Bellefair. Once the vaccine is administered, and after a short period of rest, students will be asked to walk to Bellefair in groups. Permission forms to walk from the school to Bellefair will be sent home soon.

News in Sports

Our Football team played three games last Wednesday at Wishing Well Montessori School. The first game against PACE ended up in a victory for V.I.S with a score of 24 to12. We lost against Fieldstone, but came very close. Congratulations to our players, we are proud of your efforts and of your continued sportsmanship!. Open Hose for Voice Parents and Students

Open House will take place in mid November. You will have a chance to view your child's work, and to share in their accomplishments with them. Exact date to follow.

A Keyboard Needed

Does anyone out there have a keyboard they no longer use? If so, would you consider donating or selling it to the school? We are also willing to borrow it for the duration of the school year. Nadine Gutmann needs it to start her after school Music Club. If you can help, please contact Nadine at [email protected]
