Skating at Kew Park
Don't forget our skating event coming up this Saturday at Kew Gardens Rink. The event celebrates the beginning of second term and promises to be a lot of fun for everyone. The rink has been booked exclusively for Voice from 1pm to 2pm. Hot chocolate and treats will be served. There will be a $3 charge (per family) to cover the rental of the rink. We hope to see you all there!
Kawartha Trip
A reminder that we depart from the school at 7:30 am sharp on Monday, therefore, all students are to be at school between 7:00 and 7:15 am. Long discussions about weather conditions at Kawartha took place on Thursday. Everyone has been advised to pay close attention to the required, winter clothing list. Please review the "list of items to bring" with your child to ensure that nothing is missed. A new, more comprehensive list was written out on Thursday.
We will be departing from the centre at 1:00 pm on Wednesday and arriving back at the school by 3:30 pm. If the bus fails to arrive by 3:30, parents can call my cell at 416 571 0493 to enquire about the exact time of arrival. Ms. Fortuno will be in the office from Monday through Wednesday (in the mornings) should you have any questions during our absence. The fieldtrip package sent home in November contains all information related to Kawartha.
Dance - A - Thon
Our Dance - A - Thon takes place on the morning of January 22 at Bellefair Church. Hopefully, our students will dance non stop for most of the morning. We are hoping to raise funds for the school and have fun at the same time. All students received a pledge form which they brought home last week. Kathleen Martin would like to remind all parents to return pledge forms and money back to the school before January 22, 2003. Information about the Dance - A - Thon, and an initial pledge form was e-mailed to you by Kathleen in late December.
Boys' Basketball - Scheduled V.I.S Games
Departure from the school on the above dates will be approximately 3 pm. Parent drivers are needed and will be greatly appreciated. Please contact Ms. Launay if you are available to drive.
Exams (Grades 7 and 8)
Exams take place from Monday, February 3rd to Friday, February 7th. Exam schedules and study guidelines will be sent home soon after our trip to Kawartha. Keep in mind that from Monday to Thursday there are morning exams only. Please help us build effective study habits by reminding your child that each afternoon should be devoted to studying for the following day's exam. On Friday February 7, students will not return home in the afternoon, as two exams (morning and afternoon) have been scheduled on that day.
Note: Following each morning exam, all grades 7 and 8 students will have the choice of going home, or remaining at school to study. Grade six students will remain at school all day during exam week and follow their regular program.
The Staff at V.I.S. hopes you had a fantastic holiday break, and we wish to
thank you for the gifts and good wishes sent to us prior to the holidays.
Welcome everyone to second term. Let's work together to make it a great one!
