I regret to inform you that due to health reasons and other extenuating circumstances, Nadine Gutmann will not be returning to Voice Intermediate School as of Monday December 2, 2002. While this transition is sudden and unexpected, I assure you that steps have been taken to ensure that our Math and French programs continue to run successfully. Mr. Drake, who is currently taking a 'stop over' from his doctoral program will assume Ms. Gutmann's duties as Math teacher at V.I.S. Mr. Drake is currently running a highly successful Science program, and I am certain that he will provide an equally exciting and challenging program in Mathematics. Ms. Launay whose undergraduate degree is in French, will conduct the French program until further notice.

I apologize for the inconvenience that this unexpected change will cause you, since Ms. Gutmann's parent/teacher interviews will have to be cancelled on Wednesday December 4th and Thursday December 5th. In any case, I have had extensive discussions with Nadine Gutmann regarding the grades in Mathematics, and will be able to assist you with any questions you may have during your interview with me. In addition, and since Ms. Launay, has been present in all of Ms. Gutmann's grade eight Mathematics classes, she has volunteered to speak to parents regarding their child's progress in this area. She assures me that parents of grade eight students can make an appointment with her if they wish.

We appreciate the many contributions that Nadine Gutmann has made to V.I.S. during the past two and a half years, and wish her the best of luck in all her future endeavours.
