Our girls took an early lead against the Junior Academy in our last game, and ended up with a victory of 35 to 34. Sidey Deska scored 18 points and Caillie Peters 15, but they couldn't have done it without the assistance of a solid team who passed the ball at the precise times. Considering that the Junior Academy has thus far gone undefeated, we consider this win a big boost of confidence and big show of "sportswomanship". Thanks coach Jeff for your efforts!

Quebec

In our previous newsletter I requested a cheque of $249 for our Quebec trip. The correct amount, as indicated in the forms and on the September 13th newsletter is $349 due by October 15. My apologies for the confusion.

Please be sure to fill out the tag (enclosed in the envelope) and return it to the school with payment and forms. Students need the tags to board the bus. Note that Keating is strict about having the kids wear the tags at all times.

Lost Items Policy

Ask your child to explain the new "Permission to Retrieve Misplaced Items" form to you, and the policy surrounding it.

The new policy regarding misplaced items such as textbooks, uniform items, notebooks, etc. may seem strict; however, I assure you that we have thus far tried every approach imaginable to get our kids to pick up after themselves. Nothing has worked! As a result, and at the end of each day, teachers pick up large numbers of textbooks, clothing, pencil cases, assignments, etc., all left on tables, chairs and even on the floor of both classrooms - many of these......unidentified and never claimed.

I still have in my office 4 unclaimed sweatshirts, 7 textbooks, 4 workbooks and two pencil cases without owners. I assure you that before the policy took effect, my office was quickly becoming a large storage area. We have repeatedly asked all students to label all items (especially sweatshirts and textbooks). Parents please assist us in resolving this ongoing problem by ensuring that your child's name is written (in marker) inside the cover of each textbook and on the label of sweatshirts.

Could you also check that your child has in his/her possession all the uniform items you purchased in September. Once an unlabelled sweatshirt is misplaced, there is no way of proving who it belongs to.

Progress Reports

Progress reports will be sent home on December 8th. Parent/teacher interviews will be held during the evening of December 9, and on December 10 ( day and evening). Look for interview schedules which will be posted in the Homework area during Curriculum Night. You will have the opportunity to sign up early.

Apologies

My apologies to Michael Loveday whose name was "spellchecked" and changed to "Love" in our October 3rd newsletter.

Thank you........
