Parents don't forget to drop you child off at 7:00 am on Tuesday. A packed lunch is necessary for the bus and kids will require lunch money for two days. We brainstormed a clothing list that went home last week. Don't forget to read all the forms carefully for information about the trip. You should have received our itinerary by now. We should be arriving back at the school at approximately 6:00 pm on Friday.
Keep my cell phone number handy in case of emergency - 416 571 0493. We'll see you on Tuesday morning.

Cross Country
On Monday, October 27, 2003, VIS competed in the SSAF Cross Country Championship Run at Crestwood School. The team had been training hard and their dedication paid off. On an extremely difficult course under tough conditions, VIS runners exceeded expectations with ten participants placing in the top 25 in their respective races. In the Pee-Wee girls division, VIS came away with two ribbons! Congratulations to Sidey Deska-Gauthier for her fourth place finish and to Jane Gerster for her fifth place finish.
With over fifty runners in each race, the Bantam Boys and Girls teams were very successful. In the girls race, Eleanor Simmons finished 13th and Rachael Chong came in 18th. A spectacular race. Congratulations also to Sarah Cole (21st) and Maddy Robertson (22nd) and to Caillie Peters who finished 27th out of 51 runners even after stopping to help a fellow competitor from another school who had fallen and hurt herself. Our students continue to make us proud of their compassion and sportsmanship at all sporting events.
In the boys race, Patrick Salvagna placed a very strong 14th, followed by Nathan Burley in 18th. A very impressive race by our team who helped each other to a strong team finish with Zac Wyman and Tyler Rothfels coming in 22nd and 23rd respectively out of well over 50 runners. Congratulations to Tommy Wood-Brunning, who was in 7th position at the halfway point before suffering an unfortunate mishap on a very muddy and dangerous stretch of the race. We admire his spirit for continuing to race after a lengthy delay and still managing to finish ahead of 15 runners.
Basketball News
In Girls Basketball, the team lost a close game to Linden in overtime on Tuesday night, 36-32. Although it was a tough loss, it was a tremendous learning experience and an exciting close game. The experience will help, as it had the feel of a playoff game with both teams vying for the final spot in the playoffs which begin November 13th. The team continues to improve on defence and gel as a unit. VIS will have one more game, against Willow Wood on Tuesday, November 11.
A Few Words of Wisdom and News From Our Student Council : By Sarah and Mimi
You can care about what people think, but dont spend your whole life worrying. What I am trying to get at is to be you. You should never change yourself just to be with a certain group. I once heard someone say that change is good enough. ! NEVER EVER! Everyone is their own person, and everyone learns at different paces, people are all shapes and sizes and all colours of the rainbow. And even if you think youre the greatest thing since sliced bread you should never try and bring people down that arent as pretty, or smart or popular as them. Be yourself and if you are good for you!
The Voice Fall fair was such a success! Everyone had a great time winning prizes, and eating all of the good bake sale treats! Oh, and the dance...after I got home from that my parents were probably just wanting me to go to bed But that wouldnt happen! I had so much to talk about, the music, food, the decorations! Lets give a huge hand to all the grade 7s for making the dance happen, Zayn especially for working out all the music and hosting the dance, all the grade 8s for hosting the Fall Fair and making it happen, all the teachers and parents who came to support us, and most definitely Mrs. Webb for helping with everything and giving helpful pointers along the way and Mrs. Lardino allowing us to have this tradition! Voice Veg Out!
The Cooking Club is hosting their first event for Voice and we cant wait! Just thinking about those mouths watering Vegetarian snacks and salads make us hungry right now! We have been asked to hand in pledge forms before Quebec so the cooking Club can be organized for the event. We want to have enough food for everyone.
Pajama Day
Voice is thinking of their first Pajama day! We are thinking about the Thursday after Quebec. It could be a really fun day. We can bring Teddy bears, and we could play games. BUT it all depends on our behaviour on the Quebec trip! Thank you Miranda Trevor and Sarah Cole.
