Congratulations to Cathie Webb for winning the "Educator of the Year" award.

This award, established by Oxford Learning Centres, recognizes a teacher whose teaching approaches consistently create a love of learning and foster the ability to learn for life. This year, Cathie Webb became the recipient of the award. She was nominated by Jane Gerster (grade 7) who wrote the following description about her as a teacher.

"....Ms. Webb brings joy and spirit to each classroom with her smile and laughter. I've known her since I was younger and now that she teaches me I have learned many important things from her. I learnt to treat myself with more self respect and to think highly of myself. Ms. Webb has taught and reinforced grammar many a times with me, she is constantly spending extra time at the school to keep it clean and neat and to help everyone else.

Since everyone gets angry, she does too, however, Ms. Webb ties in jokes with her anger and does not hold a grudge. She is one of my favourite people to hang around with. Ms. Wbb cares for us and isn't afraid to show it. She happily spends extra time on Thursday mornings hosting the "Breakfast Club". She reinforces what she taught the days before and gives you morning treats.

With Ms. Webb, learning isn't always about the higher marks, it's about self confidence, building on what you know, and working up the courage to ask for help.

I'm proud and happy to have yet another year in her class because she makes me want to be more than I am."

Jane, we couldn't have said it better!
