Tawingo

As you know, our trip to Tawingo takes place from May 7 to 9, 2003. The cost of this trip will be $152 per student. It includes transportation, accommodation, meals and all programs. Further details, clothing lists and permission forms will be sent home by Friday, April 11. Make sure you ask your child for these. We will depart from the school at 7:30 am and will leave the centre at approximately 1:30 pm on Friday, May 9.

Fieldtrip to LKTYP on April 8

Permission forms for the play "In the Freedom of Dreams - The Nelson Mandela Story" are due early next week. Students require TTC money and $ 5 for lunch. Entrance is free. We depart from the school at 9:15 and return after lunch. The theatre and the Kwabiyela Relief Project request permission to display all logos and written presentations at the Lorraine Kisma Theatre throughout the duration of this production. All our students have given permission to do so and feel very honoured.

News from our Student Council V.P.

Dear V.I.S. Parents,

At our most recent student council meeting we decided on a lot. As we have mentioned to our peers we are in need of student organized fundraising to buy the things we need. Therefore, with the assistance of Madison Jacobs, grade seven representive, and her family we are hosting a Krispy Kreme donut fundraiser. As you may remember this took place last year at our school and we wish to duplicate its success. My peers may have told you how this works; we have received order forms, which are to be filled out and returned with the pledged dozens of donuts. The original glazed donuts will be selling at $6.50/dozen, opposed to the $8/dozen at which Krispy Kreme sells them. Order forms and money (cheques are regretfully unaccepted) will be collected on April 15 and donuts will be at the school for distribution on May 5. We hope that everyone will take part in this event. We are continuously working on fundraising ideas and will soon have another amazing fundraiser!

Another decision made by our student council was to implement budget councils. The following people will be in charge of bringing lists of needed items to our treasurer, Sean Kieran. The councils are as follows: Zayn Kalyan, computers; Miranda Trevor, student needs; Madison Jacobs, art; Eleanor Vaughan, sports; Breyen Peters, other.
